Sika Kenya is excited to announce the Sika Africa Best Tiler Competition 2025, a prestigious event that aims to identify, recognize, and reward the best tiling professionals across the region. This competition is designed to elevate industry standards, foster skill development, and showcase the technical excellence and precision required in the tiling sector. Through this competition, we aim to create a platform where tilers can not only demonstrate their technical proficiency but also engage with the latest industry trends and best practices.

Objective of the Competition

  • To raise the standards of tiling application and finishing within the construction industry.
  • To provide a platform for tiling professionals to demonstrate and enhance their skills.
  • To promote the correct use of Sika tiling solutions, including tile adhesives, waterproofing, and grouting systems.
  • To strengthen industry collaboration and capacity building through partnerships with key industry stakeholders.

Competition Structure

1. Theory Assessment (Completed)

The inaugural Building Finishing Training, held on 12th March 2025, served as the initial pre-qualification stage. Several participants specializing in tiling and waterproofing attended, where they received technical training and were assessed on product knowledge, application techniques, and industry best practices.

2. Practical Competition (2nd May 2025)

The shortlisted finalists will compete in a hands-on, real-world setting at NITA (National Industrial Training Authority). Participants will be tested on key elements of tiling, including:

  • Tile alignment and accuracy
  • Adhesive selection and application
  • Waterproofing techniques and integration
  • Grouting consistency and finish quality
  • Safety handling and professional conduct

3. Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony

The Grand Finale will take place at a venue yet to be confirmed in Nairobi.
Winners will be recognized in the following categories:

  • Best Overall Performance
  • Best Finishing Quality
  • Best Time Management
  • Best Safety Handling

The overall winner will be fully sponsored by Sika to represent Kenya at the Africa Innovation Week, scheduled on 29th Sep to 3rd Oct 2025 at Casablanca, Morocco.

  • Correct selection and application of tile adhesives and grouts
